Shahzeb Khan Murder: Police gains access to suspects phone records

KARACHI: Police has obtained telephone records of the numbers used by the two main accused in the Shahzeb Khan murder case, sources reported on Saturday.
According to sources, the cell phone numbers, which were used by Siraj Talpur and Shahrukh Jatoi (the two accused in the Shahzeb Khan murder case) were in fact not registered under their respective names.
Sources stated that the records displayed the entire calling list from the suspects cell phone numbers and that both the accused had called upon their parents immediately after the dreadful incident which claimed Shahzeb’s life.
It has also been found that the suspects also called various other numbers following the shooting incident -  the numbers are currently under investigation by the police for further identification and tracing.
Police has carried out a fierce raiding operation following the Chief Justice’s suo motu notice.

Premier League: Banning orders or prison warning for fans with flares

Football supporters hold lit flares aloft as others enjoy the atmosphere outside Wembley Stadium

Football supporters who take flares or smoke bombs into stadiums are risking banning orders or even prison, the Premier League will warn.
It is launching a campaign aimed at eradicating the growing trend of fans taking pyrotechnic devices to matches.
Recent incidents involving flares have occurred at Wembley and Villa Park.
"We will say to fans we understand you think this is a bit of fun but they are dangerous," said the Premier League's head of supporter services Cathy Long.

"It will also make people aware of what the consequences of their actions are - that this can carry a banning order, it can carry a custodial sentence, there can be really quite serious consequences for fans and we want to avoid that."
She told BBC Breakfast: "We want people to be aware of what the dangers are, both to themselves and the people around them.
Last week, Fifa began disciplinary proceedings against the English and Polish football associations after flares, which can burn at temperatures of up to 1600C, were lit during October's World Cup qualifier at Wembley.
So far this season pyrotechnics have been used at or in connection with 131 matches at English league grounds, compared to 199 for the whole of last season.
Further figures from the UK Football Policing Unit say there have been 44 arrests so far this season. During the entire 2012-13 campaign officers made 70 arrests.
Everton, Manchester United and Wigan Athletic have each been involved in five incidents involving pyrotechnics.

Police reported an increase in the use of flares and pyrotechnic devices last season by nearly 140% compared to the previous year, while arrests for their use were up by 150%.
"Pyro dogs" trained to sniff out flares are also becoming more common at stadiums.
Assistant referee David Bryan was hit by one during a match between Aston Villa and Tottenham at Villa Park in October.
In May, a 15-year-old boy suffered lung damage from a smoke bomb thrown during Villa's game at Wigan, while in February a 14-year-old boy was killed by a flare thrown by supporters during a South American Libertadores Cup tie in Bolivia.
The Football Supporters' Federation has advised fans to think about the consequences of bringing pyrotechnics into football grounds.
Amanda Jacks, Case Worker for the FSF, said: "While some fans who bring pyro into grounds often do so with good intentions at heart, such as improving the atmosphere, there can be very serious consequences - injury, banning orders, criminal records and even prison.
"Furthermore, increasing numbers of fans are speaking out against their use. There are obvious safety implications, particularly if flares are thrown about like. Others simply resent having their views blocked by smoke and fans have been hospitalised with smoke inhalation."

Gareth Bale: First home start delights coach Ancelotti

Gareth Bale celebrates with Real Madrid team mates
Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti was pleased with Gareth Bale's performance after the Wales forward scored twice in his first home start for the club.
Bale also set up goals for Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema to help Real to an emphatic 7-3 win over Sevilla in La Liga at the Bernabeu.
The 24-year-old also played 90 minutes for the first time since his world record move from Tottenham in August.
Ancelotti said: "Everyone saw the real Gareth. He showed fantastic skills."
The start to Bale's Real career following his £85m transfer has been hampered by foot and thigh injuries which have restricted his playing time.
However his display against Sevilla, who had Stephane Mbia sent off, went some way to make amends for his low-key performance in Real's 2-1El Clasico defeat by Barcelona.
"It takes time to adapt but it was a necessity," added Ancelotti. "Now he doesn't have problems physically and he is improving his confidence, so he will be very important for us in the future."
Bale's goals, a 15-yard strike and deflected free-kick, came in the first 27 minutes, and he also provided two assists as Ronaldo scored a hat-trick while Benzema grabbed Real's other two goals.
"I showed what I was capable of," said Bale. "It was a crazy game to be involved in but the most important thing for us is to get the three points."
Real are six points behind leaders Barcelona after the win and two adrift of second-placed Atletico Madrid

Champions League: Celtic stadium request to be denied by Uefa

Celtic Park crowd

Any request by Celtic to play one of their home Champions League fixtures in either England or Ireland next season will be denied by European governing body Uefa.
If Celtic win the Scottish league title this season they will be required to play a two-legged Champions League qualifying match next summer.
But with Celtic Park, along with Ibrox and Hampden, all in use asCommonwealth Games venues, a new location for the game would need to be found.
Celtic's chief executive Peter Lawwell had asked Uefa to look at options for the tie, including stadiums outside Scotland.

Regulation 12.07: Venues

Celtic Park crowd
In principle, a club must play all its matches in the competition at one and the same ground.
Matches may be played either at the ground of the home club or at another ground in the same or another city within the territory of its association, or, if so decided by the Uefa administration and/or the Uefa disciplinary bodies, in the territory of another Uefa member association for reasons of safety or as a result of a disciplinary measure.
Speaking earlier this week Lawwell said: "We are currently in discussion with Uefa in terms of what options we have.
"Once they are happy with those options then we will go and speak to the relevant owners of the stadia, possibly outside Scotland.
"It could be England or Ireland, the Aviva in Dublin or Croke Park or maybe even down south at a northern Premier League club. We have a big support in Dublin and the stadium was full when we played Liverpool in the summer there, so that would be great."
But BBC Sport have been told that Uefa, under its current rules, would deny any request to play the game outside Scotland, citing rule 12.7 of Champions League regulations.
It states Champions League matches must be played "either at the ground of the home club or at another ground in the same or another city within the territory of its association".
The only exemptions under the rule are for safety issues or as the result of a disciplinary measure.
Celtic are citing their European Cup Winners Cup game at Old Trafford in 1984 against Rapid Vienna  as a potential precedent for moving the game.
But that match was only played at Manchester United's stadium after Uefa ordered a replay at a neutral ground at least 100 miles away from Glasgow following a controversial end to the second-leg at Celtic Park.
The club are also thought to be considering the 67,800 capacity Murrayfield stadium in Edinburgh, the home of Scottish rugby, with Uefa's regulations now making it the leading contender to host the potential game.

Allen Iverson says he took an ‘ass-kicking’ for being himself

Iverson is unapologetic for his controversial look at his retirement ceremony.
Allen Iverson announced his retirement on Wednesday, and had some strong words for his critics throughout his career. In particular, he called out those who criticized his clothes, tattoos and iconic cornrows.

Iverson’s look was controversial, and a large part of why the NBA adopted a dress code in 2005. But some of the appeal of the NBA comes from its players’ abilities to be individuals. Iverson’s look was his look, and he’s right to be unapologetic now that his career is coming to an end.

World Series tickets could be at record cost for Game Six

With hours left before the Red Sox take on the Cardinals in what could be the last game of the 2013 World Series, fans in Boston are opening their wallets with one message: The chance to go to the game is priceless.
The cost, however, could be reaching record highs on secondary ticket sellers as the prices of tickets creep up to past $5,700 on TiqIq.com and Boston-based Ace Ticket, and more than a whopping $12,000 on StubHub.com. Prices for cheaper seats start at around $700 on all of the sites, though for much of Wednesday weren’t floating below $1000.
“I’m surprised how inexpensive they are,” said James Holzman, the CEO of Ace Ticket and a lifelong Red Sox fan. “I agree it’s a fair amount of money but it’s $1000 for a lifetime memory and there’s no pricetag that you can put on that.”

Dwight Howard and the Rockets are living up to the hype

Howard and James Harden dominate in the Rockets’ season opener.

Consider the rest of the NBA on notice. James Harden and Dwight Howard made their debut as Houston Rockets teammates on Wednesday, and proved that the hype is deserved.
Harden scored 21 points, while Howard was an absolute monster at both ends of the floor. He looked like the MVP candidate of 2011, scoring 17 points and collecting a staggering 26 rebounds in the Rockets’ 96-93 win over the Charlotte Bobcats.
The dominance of the Howard-Harden pairing is defined by this play:

Rockets GM Daryl Morey summed it up nicely after the game:

Alvaro Negredo and Edin Dzeko scored in extra time to earn Manchester City a place in the Capital One Cup last eight at the expense of Newcastle.

Shola Ameobi

In a largely lacklustre tie, the hosts created the better openings with Costel Pantilimon saving Shola Ameobi's shot.

Man City deserved win - Pellegrini
But after Pantilimon again saved expertly to deny Papiss Cisse in extra time, Negredo tucked in Dzeko's cross.
Dzeko then rounded Tim Krul after a slick move as City secured their ninth successive win over the Magpies.
Joleon Lescott cleared a Hatem Ben Arfa shot off the line as the game came to a finish but City progressed safely to a quarter-final meeting with Championship side Leicester.
The two late goals by the visitors offered flashes of quality after both teams had laboured in front of goal during normal time.
It was a game that was a far cry from City's 4-0 win over the Magpies in their first game of the season. City - who made 10 changes to the side that lost to Chelsea on Sunday - offered less of a threat than the hosts for most of the match, and relied on two fine saves by Pantilimon to keep them in the tie.

Cisse twice wasted good chances for Newcastle in the first half as he lobbed the ball wide after the industrious Ameobi flicked on Krul's kick, and miscued a shot from close-range. It continues a poor run in front of goal for the Senegalese forward, who has managed one goal in his past 15 games.
The Romanian had been expected to feature, having played in the last round, but his performance will give City boss Manuel Pellegrini something to ponder after a Joe Hart error gifted Chelsea victory at Stamford Bridge. It was City's first clean sheet in seven games.
The visitors lost Stevan Jovetic to what looked like a calf injury early on and although Negredo joined Dzeko in attack, City were missing the punch provided by the rested Yaya Toure and Sergio Aguero.
Play media
Right-back Micah Richards, who captained the side, headed over from a promising position early in the second half before City almost took the lead against the run of play - Krul misjudging a through ball down the right but Milner failing to find the target with the goal gaping.
Once David Silva was introduced after the hour, City began to offer a greater threat, with Negredo twice going close.
Nevertheless, Newcastle should have gone ahead in the first period of extra time, but again Cisse was wasteful. The Newcastle forward was found expertly by substitute Ben Arfa but Pantilimon clawed his shot away.
The Magpies having spurned that chance, Spanish forward Negredo finally took advantage, leaving Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa flat-footed for the first before Milner exchanged passes with Silva to set up Dzeko, who sealed it 15 minutes left.
Newcastle manager Alan Pardew:
"We're obviously disappointed not to score. We played well enough to warrant a goal and I couldn't ask more from the players.
"The performance level was really high but it was a hard match so it is a shame we didn't get our noses in front.
"We had a really big, big chance at the start of extra time and that first goal is critical at that point because people are getting tired and it is very difficult to claw it back. Unfortunately for us they scored it."

Tottenham required penalties to subdue a stubborn Hull City and advance to the last eight of the Capital One Cup.

Brad Friedel celebrates Tottenham's Capital One Cup win

After a miss apiece in the first five kicks, Ahmed Elmohamady was denied by Brad Friedel to decide the tie.
Gylfi Sigurdsson's first-half 25-yarder had put the home side ahead, before Freidel fumbled into his own net.
Paul McShane nodded home in extra time to give the visitors the lead for the first time, but substitute Harry Kane's low shot sent the game to spot-kicks.

The home crowd responded well to their
Portuguese manager's demands for an improvement on the weekend's atmosphere at White Hart Lane with raucous support from the first whistle.Andre Villas-Boas's side have now won nine of their last 11 games, after beating the same opponents three days earlier in the league.
Villas-Boas's players were a little slower to get into their stride, but after Younes Kaboul had planted a header wide, Sigurdsson's explosive strike repaid their fans.
The Iceland international swivelled to leave Curtis Davies in a heap before sending a fierce shot beyond Eldin Jakupovic and in off the underside of the bar.
Tigers boss Steve Bruce, who talked his way into a Football Association charge with his complaints over the penalty that decided the league meeting between the two sides, was incensed once again when Kyle Walker escaped a booking for a heavy challenge on Stephen Quinn just before half-time.

George Boyd's clever flick found Liam Rosenior whose low cross was met by a sliding Davies at the far post. The former Aston Villa defender contrived to screw his shot across, rather than into, goal, but Tottenham goalkeeper Friedel's attempts to keep it out did the opposite.
His frustration seemed to translate into an effective team talk however and substitute Aaron McLean twice shot at goal before his side pulled themselves level seven minutes into the second half.
Davies and McLean threatened for Hull, but Spurs substitute Harry Kane came closest to a winner in normal time, having a goal disallowed for a Jermain Defoe hand-ball before rattling the crossbar deep into injury time.
Instead McShane put his side ahead for the first time after outjumping Vlad Chiriches to meet George Boyd's corner and the visitors could have made the game safe had Gedo kept his head 12 yards out shortly after.
But Kane got the goal he deserved in a spritely display, working himself clear of the attentions of McShane and drilling home a low shot.
Despite the crowd urging them forward, Tottenham could not find a winner in normal play and had to face up to a wretched run of form in penalty shoot-outs - they have not won one since 1994.
Hull's McLean and Erik Lamela for the hosts were the only players to falter in the first 15 attempts, before Elmohamady planted his shot too close to Friedel.
Despite successive defeats in north London, Hull will take plenty of heart from the quality of their performances going into Saturday's match against Bruce's former charges Sunderland.
Hull manager Steve Bruce:
"We haven't had any luck the last two or three days we have been down here but I can only say how proud I am of them to cope with the manner of Sunday's defeat and play as they did.
"They did not deserve to go out."

Gareth Bale scored twice as Real Madrid claimed an emphatic 7-3 win over 10-man Sevilla in La Liga.

Gareth Bale

The Wales international, making his first start at the Bernabeu, opened the scoring with a smart finish, before adding a second soon after.
Bale, 24, also provided two assists as Cristiano Ronaldo scored a hat-trick, while Karim Benzema grabbed two goals.
Ivan Rakitic scored two and Carlos Bacca got one for Sevilla, who had Stephane Mbia sent off.

The two goals took Bale's total for Real Madrid to three goals in six games since
his £85m move from Tottenham on 1 September.Real are six points behind leaders Barcelona after the win and two off second-placed Atletico.
It was the ideal response to a low-key performance by Bale in the 2-1 El Clasico defeat by Barcelona on Saturday, when he was making only his second start of an injury-hit season.
An added boost for manager Carlo Ancelotti was that Bale completed 90 minutes for the first time since joining Real.
His first goal against Sevilla was one of quality as he powerfully swept the ball into the top corner of the net after being set up by Benzema.
Bale doubled Real's lead just before the half hour mark when his free-kick took a huge deflection off the Sevilla wall to loop into the net.
The hosts then looked to be in control when Ronaldo confidently dispatched a penalty after Isco was brought down inside the area.
But Sevilla fought back before the break as Sergio Ramos was judged to have pushed Diogo Figueiras in the box and Rakitic scored the spot-kick.
Real Madrid's Cristiano Ronaldo
Cristiano Ronaldo celebrated his first goal for Real against Sevilla with a salute
Bacca then rolled the ball into the net from Vitolo's pass to pull the visitors to within one goal of Real.
A sweeping counter by the hosts after the break made it 4-2 when Benzema side-footed in from a pass by Bale, who then provided the assist for Ronaldo to convert from a similar position.
Rakitic curled in a third for Sevilla but victory was assured for Real when Ronaldo completed his hat-trick with a deflected effort.
A difficult match got worse for the visitors 15 minutes from full-time when Mbia earned his second yellow card of the game for his part in a clash with Luka Modric.
The man disadvantage left a tired Sevilla side exposed and Real pushed forward in the closing stages looking for more goals.
Their seventh arrived 10 minutes from the end of the game when Benzema headed in Marcelo's cross.

KARACHI: Parents of Shahzeb Khan – the 20-year-old who was shot dead in Karachi last year – have filed an application in a court, pardoning the murderers, Express Newsreported on Monday.
On December 25, last year, Shahzeb Khan, 20, was gunned down by Shahrukh Jatoi, who was accompanied by his friends, Siraj and Sajjad Talpur. The young men had a fight after the Talpur’s servant, Ghulam Murtaza Lashari, teased Shahzeb’s sister.
An anti-terrorism court had handed death sentences to main accused Shahrukh Jatoi and Siraj Talpur and life-long jail terms to Sajjad Talpur and Ghulam Murtaza Lashari on June 7.
Today, Shahzeb’s parents – DSP Aurangzeb Khan and Ambreen Aurangzeb – have decided to pardon the culprits in the “name of Allah.” They have further requested for their release.
Court to take up compromise plea
An anti-terrorism appellate bench of the Sindh High Court will take up the compromise plea along with appeals filed by the four convicts against their conviction.

How Shahzeb Khan Was Killed? Complete Story

Shahzeb Khan on the wedding - 22nd december 2012

KARACHI: Shahzeb Khan didn’t even get time to change the clothes he wore to his sister’s valima. He was in his dark grey dress shirt and trousers when four 9mm bullets pierced through his car – a gleaming blue Swift which was an early birthday gift from his parents, and entered his body, eventually killing this popular 20 year old. The car which had somersaulted after the shooting near Mubarak Masjid in Karachi’s upmarket Defence area on Tuesday morning, now stands silent opposite the Darakhshan Police Station, a sad reminder of what the spoilt young sons of feudal landlords can do if they or their friends are challenged.

Ironically, Shahzeb Khan, the only son of his parents, was shot dead because of a small argument. He and his sister had just returned to their home in the Country Club Apartments from the wedding when a servant living in the building teased his sister. Shahzeb raised his voice against the harassment. But this did not sink in well with the harasser’s master, one Nawab Siraj Talpur. A fight broke out soon after, but Shahzeb’s father, DSP Aurangzeb, jumped in and quickly resolved the dispute, and the two men left on a good note.

Everything seemed normal. Soon after, Shahzeb decided to have tea with his friends. But the feud wasn’t over in Talpur’s mind till then. As an oblivious Shahzeb drove in his car near Mubarak Masjid, Talpur and his friend Shahrukh Jatoi followed him, along with Jatoi’s armed guards. Police say that in an act of cold-bloodedness, they then allegedly fired four bullets into Shahzeb’s car, leaving him severely injured, and eventually dead.
Soon enough after the incident, the two criminals and their families conveniently escaped to Sukkur. Despite the fact that Shahzeb’s father himself is a police officer, there is little the police have done so far to catch the murderers.
The devastated father of the young victim, Aurangzeb, clad in mourning black clothes, said taking lives in the city had become so easy for people who have strong political backgrounds and power.  “I had settled the dispute. Then why was my son killed like this. This is the brutal reign of the feudals. They don’t spare anyone.”
FIR 519 under murder case 302 has been registered at the Darakhshan Police Station against the two accused and their guards. Initially, the family had a hard time registering the case owing to political pressure coming from other end. However, Investigation officer Murtaza told The Express Tribune that a joint team under SI Chaudhry Nafees had been formed to look into the case. Some say this is a mere formality and nothing will come of this.
“We have requested the FIA to put the names of the accused on the ECL.” The officer said that such open use of arms across the city had become common. “For students and young adults, carrying guns has become a trend. Fights break out and the first thing children do is take out guns on one another. Parliamentarians and influentials travel in the city with their guards pointing guns at others and no one can do anything. Their children do the same.”
The tragic death of this media sciences student at Greenwich University sent shockwaves.  Loved ones who remember Shahzeb for his cute smile, created a page “In Memory of Shahzeb Khan” to seek justice for the act. In just thirteen hours since the page was created, 2,500 people had joined, with dozens leaving messages of ‘I’ll miss your smile, RIP and you were a real soldier, you stood up for the wronged.”
Close university friend Saad Jan, who had just arrived from visiting his friend’s grave said that Shahzeb was the person who would always stand up for others. Another friend, Fahad Wakeel said that he was always remembered for his good nature.
Shahzeb’s uncle, Jahanzaib said: “For him everything ended with a smile. Even when he was leaving from the valima, and I saw him for the last time, he smiled and joked with my daughters and went away, leaving us forever.”
The police suspect that the boys aged 20 or 23, are on their way to Sukkur. So far two people, alleged to be Jatoi’s guards, have been arrested. But even the police are now taking sides. SSP Investigation Faizullah Karejo said that the boys knew each other and were in a fight from before. “The parents had to intervene and everything was settled,” he said. “However, the boys started to fight again and Jatoi shot Shahzeb four times as he sat in his car to go to a friend’s house.”  He added that Jatoi was in the city for winter break and is studying in Malaysia.

Joe Hart faces Costel Pantilimon competition - Joe Corrigan

Joe Hart and Costel Pantilimon

Costel Pantilimon could replace Joe Hart in the Premier League if he impresses in Wednesday's Capital One Cup tie at Newcastle, says ex-Manchester City keeper Joe Corrigan.

"There's a League Cup game coming up and I think Pantilimon will play," Corrigan told BBC Radio 5 live.
"Maybe the boss is thinking 'I'll give [Pantilimon] a go if he does well'."
Hart's mistake at Stamford Bridge was the latest in a string of errors in the opening weeks of the season, and Corrigan believes Pantilimon could become manager Manuel Pellegrini's first choice if he impresses against the Magpies.
Romanian Pantilimon, 26, joined City in 2011 but has never featured in the Premier League.

"I think the manager will make an assessment if he [Pantilimon] plays well against a Premier League side," said Corrigan, 64.
But even if England international Hart has a spell on the sidelines with his club, Corrigan, who played for City between 1967 and 1983 and won nine England caps, believes the 26-year-old has the ability to respond.
"Joe has to accept whatever happens and go back and work. He's got the quality.
"He's got to accept all the flack, it's difficult because he's still a young man. He knows he's made a mistake."
Corrigan also feels the changes in Hart's goalkeeper coaches has impacted on his performances.
Hart worked with Massimo Battara for three years until Roberto Mancini was sacked in May, and he is now being coached by Spaniard Xabier Mancisidor, who joined with Pellegrini.
At international level he is coached by Dave Watson, who also worked with Hart during his loan spell at Birmingham City in 2009-10.
Corrigan added: "I worry what the input of another foreign goalkeeping coach has on him.
"He had an Italian for three or four years. He now has a Spanish goalkeeping coach, and their management of goalkeeping isn't the same as a British goalkeeping coach.
"He has the England goalkeeping coach Dave Watson who I think is a superb goalkeeping coach and he only meets up with Dave every international gathering. It's got to be difficult for him."
