New York has to figure out if things are bad or worse.

There isn’t a big winner when you’re 0-6. Not much to celebrate when you’re off to the worst start in 37 years. There isn’t much to say either.
The same quotes have been floating around the New York Giants’ locker room.
“We’re all sick of it”
“I feel bad for my teammates.”
“We’ve just got to keep playing”
It’s not like the Giants don’t want to win. But it is becoming clear that the Giants can’t win. So where does that leave New York? It doesn’t seem like a group that is giving up but rather a group utterly befuddled and searching for answers.
“You’re not going to go back to not throwing the football. That’s not something that’s going to happen,” coach Tom Coughlin said. “[Eli Manning's] been too successful for so many years throwing the ball.”
Yet, Manning threw his 13, 14, and 15th interception of the year on Thursday. No other quarterback in the NFL has more than nine interceptions. Manning has eight picks in six fourth quarters this year.
“I feel bad for my teammates. I feel bad for my coaches and everybody, fighting every day, and I’m fighting, too,” Manning said. “I am trying to get a win for these guys.”
Maybe it’s time to try less.
It’s hard to fathom Manning and the Giants won the Super Bowl 20 months ago. Harder to comprehend for the Giants — and everyone else — is how the team’s 2013 season is already over.
So as attention turns to 2014 — halfway through October — New York will have to figure out just how broken this team is. Will 67-year-old Tom Coughlin want to come back? What does a 32-year-old quarterback seemingly in his prime need to win his third championship? Are these problems that demand sweeping changes? Will top-five draft pick solve anything?
These are the questions that will eat at the Giants for the next 10 months. Much like this season, it’s going to be a tumultuous road.
