With an unforced fumble that was returned for a touchdown.
True freshmen quarterbacks make mistakes. It’s part of the growing pains.
In the first quarter of the Penn State-Eastern Michigan game, Nittany Lions five-star quarterback Christian Hackenberg lost the football in PSU territory and Eagles’ Hunter Matt took the ball in for a touchdown and a 7-0 lead.

But with 9:07 to go in the third quarter, Penn State has a 17-7 lead and Hackenberg is 19 of 27 for 232 yards and counting.
UPDATE: In just his second start for the Nittany Lions, Hackenberg set a freshman passing record going 23 for 33 for 311 yards in a 45-7 win.
